Around the County: Commissioners Back EMT Training Incentive for County Squads

According to minutes shared by Commissioner Duane Bischoff

The Dearborn County Commissioners held a brief and routine meeting July 7, 2026, according to minutes shared by Commissioner Duane Bischoff, moving through a short slate of agreements, ratifications, and approvals with no public comment.

Commissioners took up an interlocal agreement with the City of Aurora for the maintenance of the lights on the George Street Bridge. They also reviewed an EMS reimbursement program designed to help county residents cover the cost of EMT training. Under the program, participants who complete training commit to working three years for a county-funded squad in exchange for the assistance.

In other business, commissioners ratified the signature on the 2027 OKI agreement and ratified an emergency declaration stemming from the storms of June 18. They noted an update on a covered bridge certification, and approved claims, payroll, and the minutes from the previous meeting.

Several members were absent, and there was no public comment. In closing, the only commissioner remarks came as a note of thanks to the road crews and others working through the summer heat.

The next meeting of the Dearborn County Commissioners will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Henry Dearborn Meeting Room, 165 Mary St., Lawrenceburg, IN.
